What do you Know About Nottingham?

I thought I'd make a few videos to help promote Our Style is Legendary and one of the ideas I came up with was asking a whole bunch of non-Nottingham folk what they knew about Nottingham.

I never, in my wildest dreams, expected the answers to be as bad as this.

Nottingham is clearly struggling on the cultural map of the UK.

If your answers, my dear reader, are as bad as theirs, can ya' sen to Our Style is Legendary for a Notts education.

  1. 1) "Nottingham" is my preferred safe word during sado-masochistic role play
    2) The city hosted my favourite episode of the "Miss Wet T-Shirt" competition in 1992
    3) Malcolm wanted a return to "Dottingham" in the 1970s Tunes TV adverts which was really, really funny. I guess the bloke in that advert was the DHG of his day...

  2. It's not far from Sherwood forest. So, Robin Hood was from there? *Tongue firmly in cheek*

  3. Darren:

What would I do without you?

Joking aside you should see how disappointed American tourists are when they see Nottingham castle is just a big house.

  4. In reply to the original question:

    1) Rock City
    2) Robin Hood
    3) Nottingham Forest (and Brian Clough by association)
    4) The coach station on a freezing November night in the 1990s

  5. I was going to say what Ellie did. No surprise there.

  6. "I'd say somewhere between the midlands and Edinburgh" Well done! You have managed to narrow the location of Nottingham down to approximately half the fucking British Isles. Did you ask Londoners by any chance?

  7. It's cold up norf as they say (Past Watford etc.)

I remember staying in a hotel in Nottingham when I had to visit a financial services company based near the centre.

I seem to remember arriving early evening and going to a nearby noodle bar for an evening meal and then on to an old white pub half built into a cliff face. Didn't see the Sheriff.

  8. Quite a lack of knowledge for such a small country. On the other hand, I'd hate to hear what people thought of Dallas.

  9. Rashbre: the pub you speak of is the excellent Trip to Jerusalem. Notts is alright.

    Highlander: Stop shooting people.

Geography is a subject a long way from many people's hearts I'm afraid. And for the record, I like Dallas and East Texas especially.
